Numerous people have been proponents of the publishing platform called Medium. I decided not to waste my time building somebody else’s business. I did that once with Twitter. In a much shorter form. I’ve been robbing myself from creating something meaningful, by working for the platform where my reach was minimal, and my creation inconsequential.
I don’t want to repeat that mistake. That is one of the reasons why I avoided putting in the energy into their service. Think that one of their newer moves was to enable custom domain support. It still lacks the flexibility of WordPress, but it is getting God damn close. Clever, making it almost doable, and for a majority of casual writes, it will be!
For me it, it won’t create any additional value, and it will hurt me the flexibility in the images department. And this is where I will make a push for WordPress. Stronger grasp of managing the multimedia, and more reliable community behind the platform. Sometimes open source just easily outperforms the companies with funds that are fleetingly running out…
